It really was a superb night. It was clear, sky full of stars, and the reflection of the moonlight looking like it was going on for miles. Scott was pretty sure he could get used to living like this, but at the same time, he knew they would both get bored and yearn for the X-Men life again if they even tried. That's why it was awesome to get away how they had, because they didn't do it frequently enough. In fact, the last time they had been away together, it had been on business to LA. Fun enough, but not intimate enough.
Emma had taken her shoe off at the start of their walk and he had taken them off her to carry for her. He gave her a smile when she had looped her arm through his at first, but it wasn't long before she wrapped her arm around his waist instead and his draped protectively around her shoulders. It was a nice walk, and the sound of the water lapping on the sure was soothing. Scott could almost pretend they weren't encapsulated in a world of combat and conflict all the time, just from the nature of what they were.
Now, Emma had walked off down to the sure to let the water wash over her feet. It was cold, but she was tough as brass balls so it didn't really affect her. She seemed happy to just bask in the private freedom they had going for them here, and Scott couldn't help but just pause up on the sand a few paces away and watch her. She was beautiful, and he was hit with a dizzying sense of how lucky he was. He had come a long way, and it had led him here. Life really wasn't as bad as he had once believed it was.

This was the first time she could remember where she wasn't watching anything but the ocean... the water lapping over her feet, completely unfeeling of the cold. The ocean breeze had teased her perfectly straightened locks back into salty beach curls, and Emma had never felt more free. Safety was always a concern when they weren't home, but tonight, Emma had every intention of feeling like another normal human being at the beach with her boyfriend. It didn't matter that she could turn her body to diamonds, or that Scott had to wear glasses to protect the world from his power. Tonight, what mattered was that it felt normal for the first time Emma could remember.
She was on vacation at the beach with her boyfriend, and they almost literally hadn't been able to keep their hands off each other this whole trip. Not that Emma was complaining. She was entirely comfortable with her body, and Scott certainly knew his way around it without a doubt. Emma knew Scott just as well, and it had been refreshing and exhilarating to be able to do what they wanted for a while. It wasn't as if they didn't have a very healthy sex life back home, but here, anytime they felt like it, they could fall into each others arms, and spend hours together, wrapped up in each other. And here they were, on the beach together, relaxed and happy. She turned to look behind here where Scott was watching her, and she smiled just a little walking back toward him and meeting him with a hungry kiss. "Is it bad that part of me wishes we could stay here forever?" she asked, tucking her head in right where it fit against his chest.

He laughed and nodded. "Yeah, pretty bad. It's not like you to delude yourself, babe, but I'll let you off this once. If only because the alternative means I have to think about work and I really, really just want one night of peace. Warren we can trust, it's some of the others that make me wonder if they're going to turn the Mansion into party central in our absence. We might go back to half-empty kegs strewn around the place and mutants in varying stages of drunkeness and undress, possibly even vomit on your intricately selected expensive rugs. Luckily for us, they always have the common sense to appoint a designated pair of designated teetotals for the night so there is always someone with their ear to the ground."

"No, it isn't like me, but I haven't relaxed this much in ages. It feels... Weird, but also kind of amazing at the same time. It's been too long, Scott. As much as I hate to admit it, I think we need vacations more often. Not that it's like we can easily just up and leave town. I wish we could. But hey, if they decide to have some fun while we're gone, as long as they don't get hurt and don't burn the mansion to the ground or puke on my rugs, I'll be okay with that. We needed this, my love. More than I even know how to say." She pulled herself up on her tippy-tip toes and gave him a gentle kiss. "I love you. I'm glad you dragged me away for a bit."
