[NARRATIVE] "You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for..." [with Angel and the Flash]

This whole situation should've been something that John had foreseen. But on some level, it was. This was why, so early in their relationship, he'd so adamantly advocated for keeping it on the downlow... keeping it to themselves and letting everyone else remain in the dark. Because if they had, this wouldn't have happened. None of it would've fucking happened. The Brotherhood as a whole were still furious with John for leaving and defecting to the X-Men. And the news that he had taken one of them as a lover had only further roused their anger, obviously.

Everything had happened so fucking fast, and as soon as the shot had been fired that had torn through Warren's shoulder and wing, the only emotions that John could get to work for him were anger and terror for Warren's life as his lover fell down god only knew how far, and in the midst of his anger, he didn't think. He just acted on instinct. If these bastards wanted him to go back to who he was before... a trained, merciless killing machine, then right now, they might just get what they wanted.

All it took was a spark... They provided him with that the minute they pulled the trigger to shoot Warren. It wasn't much, but he didn't need much, and within a matter of fractions of a second, John had developed it into a huge ball of fire, enveloping the mutant who'd shot Warren, before slowly expanding it to take down his reinforcements. At first they tried to fight back, using mutant abilities, and one even powerfully jumped out of the fireball, but John, without thought, split it in two, using one hand to send the other after the escapee. He watched, remorseless and unfeeling, as the flames licked away at the other mutants to the point that not even their own powers could save them, their skin charring and melting away... and he felt nothing that told him to stop -- nothing at all that told him to be the better man. These bastards hurt -- possibly even killed -- Warren, and for that, they deserved to die.

It was only as they were all falling to the floor, not a single breath of life left in their bodies, that the door of the warehouse burst open and Barry was standing beside him, albeit in his suit as The Flash. It wasn't enough that these Brotherhood mutants were dead. John wanted them entirely unrecognisable, and he let the flames swallow them up until he was satisfied. There was no coming back from that.

Barry seemed to know better than to try to stop John right now, but he did get to Warren's side as quickly as possible, which for him was pretty damn fast, and once the job he was doing was taken care of, John followed suit, running down to the ground floor where Warren's mangled body lay... everything broken and his mutant healing really not coming into effect here... At least not yet.

And that was it. John immediately choked back a painful sob and dropped to his knees at his lover's side. "Warren, babe..." he sobbed. "Please... Fuck, please, babe, you have to wake up. You have to heal."

No response came from Warren at all, and John looked at Barry in a sort of lost terror. "You have to help me," he pleaded. "We have to get him home."
